An essential part of SAWC, Chai Addas are bimonthly conversational meetings over “cha” (tea) at a member's place or communal space, where we discuss our immediate needs and plan pertinent actions.
SAWC helps South Asian immigrant workers integrate into USA society. Much of what we do - building community, aiding with work issues, educating and research – involves knowledge and cultural exchange. Personal stories and collaboration become crucial catalysts for change. We see each other in our different struggles. This gives us connections that gives us the courage to stand up to injustice.
We were at the "Building Grassroots Power" event on February 21 at Tufts University. Conversations focused on what have we learned about organizing so far, how to start and how to sustain our activities. Here we are with one of the panelists, Heather Booth of the Midwest Academy.
We Listen, Work, and
Act to build a thriving Community.
